Speaker of the House Dawit Yohannis spoke to the national committee for the return of the Axum Obelisk who are scheduled to fly to Rome on Saturday. He urged the committee to again appeal for the speedy return of the relic and said the Italian government has shown good will for the return.
The delegation travelling to Rome is comprised of representatives of ministries, the House, as well as the mayor of Axum and personalities. They are expected to meet with Italy's foreign minister and reach consensus on the obelisk's return.
